Breakout Session: IP Basics and Strategy for Bootstrappers
(OK, maybe this isn't the right place for this, but ...)
Bijoy has asked me to put together a breakout session on intellectual property covering some basic facts, dispelling some myths and common misunderstandings and talking about general IP and patent strategies and licensing. I'd like to get some feedback on the proposaed topic coverage. Please provide input below.
I plan to cover (all) three interrelated topic areas:
- IP basics (10 minutes)
- relating IP to entrepreneurs (5 minutes)
- basic needs in IP management in all high tech companies (15 minutes)
- patent strategy considerations before - and parallel to - talking with a patent attorney (10 minutes)
I may be able to get one or two patent attorneys to join us if we will get a good anticipated turnout, but please understand that in this setting they will not provide actual legal advice. If time allows, I would also like to get some roundtable discussion going on clarifying public discourse on problems with the "patent-sphere" (at least among Bootstrappers).
NOTE: I am NOT an attorney but have done a lot of IP work as both a Product Manager and IP consultant. Nothing during the session will be legal advice, and no specific individual needs will be covered. Do not post anything here, or discuss in the breakout session anything you expect to keep confidential.
Please add your name if you would be interested in attending such a session (time & location TBD)
