The Bootstrap Bootcamp is a course developed by the Bootstrap Network on the stages and principles of bootstrapping. It is made available to the Bootstrap Community through Ideation Subgroup meetings, in-person sessions (facilitated by Bootstrap Contributors) and to Bootstrap Contributors after 3 months of Active Contribution to Bootstrap.

Bootstrap Bootcamp is also the first example of a Bootstrap Collaboration where bootstrap members work with the Bootstrap Network to offer a product/service in the marketplace.

History

In Jan 2006 I spoke to the Austin City Council on bootstrapping. There I met Rosy Jalifi, who runs the Small Business Development Program for the City of Austin. Rosy suggested a 1-day workshop on bootstrapping, offered to the public. Thus the Bootstrap Bootcamp was born and I facilitated it twice in 2006 for SBDP. I also taught the Bootstrap Principles to 7 students at the Khabele School in the Fall of 2006. In the latter part of 2006, fellow bootstrapper, Josh Shipsey and I decided to collaborate on an online version. This is now offered with Josh's company, Communication Simulations at Bootstrap Bootcamp.

Current Bootstrap Collaborators

  • Joshua Shipsey, Communication Simulations - produces and hosts the online Bootcamp
  • Khotso Khabele, Khabele School - Bootcamp syllabus taught as an elective for students; facilitated 1-day Bootcamps to the public
  • Mousumi Shaw - Women's entrepreneurial and economic development groups
  • Steve Harper, Nancy Schill, Martin Montero - Affiliates

Needs

  1. We offer a 25% commission to affiliate partners. Affiliate partners from the Bootstrap Group must be Contributors to participate.
  2. Facilitators - we want to create an in-person Bootcamp experience with qualified facilitators. These will be offered internally to the Bootstrap Community (for Boot Karma) and externally.
